As Siulinski commented above, the Canon 5d's with the 70-300L is a great combo and 'almost' as good as the Fuji setup, except for the fps. The sharpness of this lightweight L lens compared to Fuji's 55-200 is about the same. I've had two other copies of the 55-200 before I got one that worked right In my country, I can get a 55-200 in a good second hand condition for around $800 from a reputable camera store. Et ça, c'est plutôt une excellente nouvelle The 55-200 is already front heavy when zoomed out to 200mm and mounted on a tripod via the camera base plate. Add extension tubes or the heavier achromatic close up lenses and it gets worse. 1. XF vs XC. If you are a Fujifilm X Series user or looking at buying an X Series camera, these are the two different types of lenses you will be looking at. The main difference between the two are that XF lenses are made of metal with a metal lens mount whereas an XC lens is mostly plastic construction. Being made of plastic does mean that the.
  2. The Fuji XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR is a very useful telephoto for all of Fujifilm's APS-C cameras.. Of course it has fast autofocus, focuses super-close, it's sharp and has Image Stabilization so we can leave our tripods back where they belong in the 1950s. Its only vices are a lack of a stabilizer switch, and a lack of an AF/MF switch for use on Fuji cameras like the X-S10 and X-E4 that.
  3. First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Keitaro So, Divisional Head of Fujifilm for providing the loan for X-E4, XF27mm R WR and XF70-300mm R OIS WR. 4. The largest difference is that the 55-200 is a DX lens while the 70-300 projects an image circle large enough for FX bodies too. This also leads to the 70-300 being noticeable larger and heavier. The build quality is a bit better and the VR a bit more sophisticated with an additional active mode for when you are on a moving platform
  5. xf 55-200 That title is quite a mouthful; This is a short review/comparison of the two tele-zooms on offer from fuji at the moment, the more expensive and better built XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 OIS -vs- the cheaper XC 50-230mm F4.5-6.7 OIS
  6. The XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR was announced in January of 2021 and inevitably it will be compared to other zoom lenses from Fujifilm such as the XF 55-200mm and XF100-400mm. With almost the identical weight of the XF 55-200mm Fuji has managed to add 100mm on the long end while only shaving off 15mm on the short end
  7. The 55-200 is a hefty, heavy lens at nearly 600g. Owners of similar focal lengths on DSLRs or even Fuji's 55-140mm f2.8, will scoff at the idea of 600g being heavy - but paired with featherweight bodies like my X-E1, its weight and bulk are very noticeable

As expected, the vast majority asked for a comparison with the 55-200. And I think it makes perfect sense since the two lenses share, not the same, but a similar focal range, and they're both built for the same market segment. Curiously enough, some photographers asked me, what about the Fujifilm 50-140mm vs Fujifilm 70-300mm? So that still looks like a win for the 100-400 IF you're using the lens at the long end. If the 70-300mm is $799 and the 1.4 TC is $449 then you're at about $1,250. The 100-400 can be purchased at $1,399 on sale. So unless compactness is what you're after then the Fuji 100-400mm is the logical choice. N J anuary 27, 2021 was a big day for Fujifilm, as they announced 5 new Fujifilm X and GFX series pieces of gear. A week before the release, I was given a review sample of two of them: the X-E4 and XF 70-300 lens. Below is my first look review on this brand new very versatile telephoto lens got the XC, it's incredible value, probably best value for money lens in Fuji camp. It's sharp enough from wide open, plenty sharp at f/8. Bokeh ain't bad either. I'd say - if you want to shoot a lot of pictures in that focal length, maybe go for 55-200 instead, for aperture, even better sharpness and bokeh Fujifilm adds a new telephoto lens to the X Series cameras. Fujifilm 70-300mm Review - Better Than the 55-200mm

  2. (As a tangent -- I also owned the Canon 70-300 II or whatever it's called, the $700 one, and while it was built like a cheaper lens it actually had great IQ through the range, very surprising). Anyway, I think the 55-200 is stronger at the long end than my Nikon 70-300 was, but then again, it's only 55-200 and not a 300m
  3. Also, I tested my Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR I, tripod mounted, on my XE1 with an adapter at the sweet spot, f/5.6, against the Fuji 55-200 at the long end. It was a dead tie at f/5.6 for Nikon (2 stops closed) vs. f/7.1 on the Fuji sweet spot (about 1+ stops closed)
  4. Nikon 18-55 vs 55-200. A lens that has an up to 35mm focal length is called the wide lens. Wide lens is used for landscape shot or objects that you'll want to have a wider view of them. But 18-55m has a longer focal length than that of a normal wide lens. So, in overall, it is a zoomable wide lens for you

I've been thinking of picking up a lightly used 50-230 II or 55-200, but this one has me wondering if holding out is a better option. Unfortunately, it will probably run around $1,000-1,200. Though at 200mm - 300mm it's a little soft at large apertures. I have it, not as happy with it as I had hoped to be. I think I get better quality with my old Canon APS-C and a cheaper Tamron 70-300. Also get better results with my Olympus M4/3 and the $100 40-150. Love my Fuji XE2S with the 35mmF2, but the 55-200 leaves me wanting. It is a very nice, smooth, well built lens, and the OIS works well

Compared with the EOS 5D Mark III, however, Fuji's zoom has a significantly lower resolution. The Canon 70-300 L resolves about a third more lines across the board, occasionally even 50% more. An equivalence to the Canon full-frame system is beyond question. The XF 55-200 [] convinces with a very solid overall performance The 55-200 is a DX format lens and is too short for most zoom lens scenarios and you will most likely only be frustrated with the lack of range it offers. (I had one and traded it in for the 70-300 and there's no contest.) 70-300 is also an FX format lens meaning it behaves as a 105-450mm on your DX format D60 Camera body If you are looking at the 55-200, forget the non-VR version. The VR version has many improvements other than VR; it's a very good lens, especially for the price. The 70-300 is also good, but pretty expensive for what is a plain-old variable aperture 70-300 lens. For portraits, you might consider a prime like an 85/1.8 I think we need more information, there are various versions of these lenses and they are rather old in design, but it also depends on whether you are using a DX or FX cmera and on which model it is. The Tamron generally out performs the Nikon in.

No Complaints hereThe Fuji 55-200. If anyone has any complaints about zooms, especially the 55-200 please take a close look at this image. The bokeh, IMHO is perfect, the color, and oh my the sharpness. This lens is 1/3rd the price of the 50-140 2.8. If I had to chose again, I'd still go with the 55-200. It's lighter, has a bit more. I also have a few zoom lenses a 17-40mm, a 24-105mm (pictured above) and a 70-200mm which cover the full range of focal lengths that I generally shoot in.. As I mention above - there is generally a lot of variation between lenses (both prime and zoom). Realistically, the 70-300 non-L's competitors are the optically superior but non-IS 70-200mm f/4L and the far less expensive but not that much optically worse 55-250. The 70-300L competes with the newer IS version of the 70-200mm f/4L as well as the two older versions of the 70-200 f/2.8 and the 100-400 As some of you may have seen yesterday from my Jay images, I do quite a lot of my current bird shooting with my Micro Four Thirds setup. There seems to be pretty universal agreement here -- 1. The Nikon is a DX lens and the Tamron is an FX lens, meaning that you could use the FX lens on a full frame camera if you ever get one. Probably not a big deal, but its DXO rating on a full.. This kind of exquisite quality is unlike almost anything seen today I have the 70-300 VR and have not use the Tamron before. I only have the Tamron 17-50 non VR. From my experience, the Nikon lens is better but you pay much more for it. I have wanted to replace the 70-300 with the 70-200 VR but has not made the move mainly due to cost. I want the f2.8. What I wish to share here is that the 70-300 VR is value.
